Roy Wadia

Originally from Bombay, Roy Wadia is a former CNN executive producer who – over almost 12 years – helped launch much of CNN International’s original Asia-Pacific news programming as well as multimedia convergence (CNNI / CNN.com). In 2003, Roy unexpectedly switched to public health communications via WHO China. Three years in Beijing led to a newfound career track in development communications, with subsequent posts at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (Vancouver); the Heroes AIDS Project under the Gates Foundation’s India HIV program (Bombay); UNFPA Asia-Pacific (Bangkok); and WHO/Europe (Copenhagen). Currently, Roy is Regional Communications Manager for WHO/Western Pacific (Manila). He’s also served on the boards of several HIV/AIDS NGOs globally, including AIDS Care China, AIDS Vancouver, the Asia-Pacific Coalition on Male Sexual Health (APCOM) and the India HIV/AIDS Alliance. Roy also manages the cinematic archives of Wadia Movietone, the pioneering Indian film studio founded by his late grandfather JBH Wadia. A longtime AAJA member, Roy was part of the ELP Class of 2001 (Scottsdale, Arizona) under the tutelage of the legendary Ron Brown.
