As Senior Communications Officer, Grace Cheung develops and executes communications strategies for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s Journalism and Media, Technology in the Public Interest, and Chicago Commitment programs. Before joining the Foundation, Grace oversaw marketing, public relations, and events at the University of Chicago’s Mansueto Institute for Urban Innovation. Prior to that Grace was Digital Director for Mayor Rahm Emanuel at the City of Chicago, where she spearheaded digital communications strategy and supported media tactics and messaging; wrote and edited content that enhanced the city’s reputation; and helped produce Mayor Emanuel’s podcast. Grace also served as Digital Director for New York State Governor’s Office and worked for the Women’s Refugee Commission and as a sub-editor for International Herald Tribune-ThaiDay, based in Bangkok. Grace has a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University and a Masters of Science in Learning and Organizational Change at Northwestern University.
