The Asia Tech Beat: Covering Asia's Rise as a Global Tech Power
11:00 - 12:00
As global geopolitical rifts widen, Asian tech has moved to the center of the world stage. From blockbuster AI IPOs in Hong Kong to South Korea’s semiconductor surge, the region’s influence is undeniable. Covering it, however, is increasingly complex, from cutting through the jargon to building meaningful industry connections. This workshop will equip participants with tools and strategies for reporting from the front lines of Asia tech.

From Journalism's Roots to Reinvention: AAJA-Asia at 30
16:30 - 17:30
This year, we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of AAJA's Asia chapter — a milestone that calls for both reflection and a forward-looking conversation.
In the first half of this special session, we have invited former AAJA-Asia presidents to look back on their journey: why they joined AAJA in the first place, what role the association has played in their careers, what sets AAJA apart from other journalism networks, and a defining memory from their time leading the chapter.
In the second half, AAJA leaders will share their vision for the future — how they are navigating the industry's challenges within their own organizations, and what a community like AAJA can and should do to better support journalists: helping them stay relevant, grow their careers, and weather an increasingly turbulent profession.
