Sudhir Thomas Vadaketh

Sudhir Thomas Vadaketh is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of Jom, a digital weekly magazine about Singapore. His work is focused on amplifying the voices of people marginalised by dominant power structures. His areas of concern are inequality, corporate and political hegemonies, and social hierarchies. He’s the author of Floating on a Malayan Breeze: Travels in Malaysia and Singapore and co-author of Hard Choices: Challenging the Singapore Consensus. From 2006-13 Sudhir worked for the Economist Corporate Network and Economist Insights, two units of The Economist Group, in Hong Kong and Singapore. He has spoken at numerous institutions and events around the world, including Columbia University, Harvard University, The World Bank, and The Economist’s Open Future Festival in Hong Kong. Sudhir’s journalism has appeared in a variety of publications, including The Economist, Foreign Affairs, MIT Technology Review, Nikkei Asian Review, The Straits Times and South China Morning Post. He has appeared on numerous video shows, including CNN’s “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown”. His GE2020 pre-election video series on Singapore politics garnered over half a million views, equivalent to a fifth of the electorate, across Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Sudhir has three bachelors from the University of California, Berkeley, and a masters from the Harvard Kennedy School.
