Jovi Ho

    Assistant editor, The Edge

    Jovi is an assistant editor at The Edge Singapore, a print business weekly that covers Singapore-listed stocks and investing strategies for the region. At The Edge Singapore, Jovi covers sustainability, banks and real estate investment trusts (REITs).

    In 2022, Jovi was named “Most Promising Journalist of the Year” by the Securities Investors Association (Singapore), or SIAS. The following year, his joint story on greenwashing risks among banks was named “Financial Story of the Year” by SIAS, and he was “highly commended” in the ESG category at the State Street Institutional Press Awards APAC 2023. He was also awarded for his coverage of local companies at the SGX Orb Awards in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

    Jovi graduated from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information in 2020. He still struggles with maths.

      In this session, early career journalists will talk to students about working in the media. Students will have an opportunity to ask professionals for early career advice and hear more about what they do as reporters. Each of the three panellists will bring experiences in a specialised area.

      The speakers will discuss how to find ideas for articles and pitch the best stories, what makes a good article, think about visuals to complement writing, how to score internships at newsrooms, and how to find your beat as a young reporter
