    Eric Wishart is Standards and Ethics Editor, and former editor-in-chief, of the international news agency AFP. He lectures in journalism at Hong Kong University and Hong Kong Baptist University, is a judge for the Hong Kong News Awards and a former president of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club, Hong Kong. He is also a member of the professional standards and ethics committee of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Organisation of Ombudsmen and Standards Editors.

      The global war of misinformation has emerged as the next political battleground. From China's portrayal of the Russian invasion of Ukraine as a "legitimate security concern" to a mass social media push during the Philippine Election to white wash the terror of the Marcos era as a "golden age", these government narratives are making in roads and shaping how their citizens vote and view the world. This panel takes a deep dive at how governments propagate misinformation and how journalists can navigate this challenging environment and fight back.
