Brian Rhoads joined the South China Morning Post as Managing Editor in September 2012 after a 16-year career with Reuters. At Reuters, he led the news coverage across Greater China for much of his tenure and also held senior management positions in Asia and the United States, serving as Managing Editor for the Americas in New York from 2008 to 2010 before moving to Hong Kong as Reuters’ Managing Editor for Asia. Before that, Mr Rhoads reported for Reuters from China from 2000 to 2008. He joined Reuters in 1996 as a subeditor on the Reuters Asia production desk, first serving in Hong Kong and later Singapore. Before Reuters, he has worked on newspapers in the San Francisco Bay Area as a staff writer or correspondent for five years. He spent 1988 to 1990 teaching English in China while learning Mandarin. He holds a Bachelor degree in political science from Stanford University.
